What You Need to Know
Non-Medical Volunteers
Non-medical volunteers play a crucial support role and must obtain prior approval before joining a mission.
- A minimum fundraising requirement of $3,500 must be met before participation is confirmed.
- Priority will always be given to medical volunteers and mission-critical roles.
Volunteer Cost Responsibilities
- All volunteers are responsible for covering the following costs:
- Round-trip international airfare
- Entry VISA into Nigeria
You are welcome to fundraise to cover these costs. VOOM Foundation can assist with guidance on how to raise funds for your trip. Please note:
- Costs for passports, optional flight upgrades, vaccinations, and personal expenses (spending money, tips, leisure activities, extra luggage, etc.) are the responsibility of the volunteer.
- If you are receiving complimentary Emirates flights (available only to pediatric teams), a $200 domestic flight fee still applies.
If financial assistance is needed, please contact Jenna at admin@voomfoundation.org as early as possible.
Safety and Security
- Your safety is a top priority. VOOM Foundation provides:
- 24-hour security throughout your stay
- Enrollment in the U.S. State Department's Smart Traveler Program, which notifies the local U.S. embassy of your presence
- Additional travel safety information can be found at travel.state.gov
